Super Club Snetterton

After last weekend with Bemsee I managed to get some gearing and a power commander sorted on the bike – thanks to Stevo and Seastar Superbikes for the use of the Dyno and TK racing for the help with chain and sprockets. But not one to take the easy route this is the last round of the Superclub Pro Bike championship and once again these guys are fighting for the championship and mean business.
The gearing and power commander made a big difference and we started quicker than last weekend which was awesome. Qualifying 2nd on the grid on 0.03 of pole. Just before Qual I pulled a muscle in my back getting in the caravan of all things! Was sore for the whole weekend but didn’t seem to effect the riding – just the getting on and off the bike was a bit awkward!

First race goes really well, 12 laps races and I haven’t ridden much this year so I was flagging off a bit towards the end although I held on to 2nd place which I was well chuffed with and quicker again.

2nd race is the all comers race – which I am drawn pole for and lead from start to finish taking the win – awesome. Quicker again and pushed all the way to the line – great race.

3rd race and I am just holding 2nd place but the brakes are fading fast and I can’t get any quicker! With 4 laps to go I come into the chicane and the brake lever comes back to the bar and I head across the grass at silly speed – I rejoin but can’t hold a podium spot as the brakes just won’t let me stop – which is a worry at 180mph on the back straight! 4th place over the line tho so still not too shabby.

We miss the last race as the tyres are well and truly done and we don’t have time to look at the brakes.

Over night we bleed the brake system through and although we get no air out we are hoping to have solved the problem – unfortunately not! We still Qualify 4th but not as fast as the day before – we have also popped on some slicks and some tweeks to the bike to try some more things out.
Between races we beg steel and borrow and try some different part on the brakes – it appears the bleed nipple is crushed on the master cylinder so Stuart Hall kindly lends me his spare – which solved the problem and we are away again – I can only manage 3rd in the race but once again it was an awesome race till the line, I am lapping consistently at my peek speed now and just can’t seem to get any faster – I thought my lap timer wasn’t working for a while as every lap was nearly identical.

Next race is much the same 3rd again and seem to have hit a bit of a barrier.

The last all comers race I start from pole and again lead from start to finish – well chuffed

A great weekend and it can only look good for 2009, only ridden the bike a few times and we are already making some good progress - I'm just getting used to riding and now we are out of money so I don’t think we will be out again this year – but I will be trying to find the money for the Dave Holland Festival at Cadwell on 4th October if anyone feels like helping out!
