Snetterton, rounds 1,2,3 and 4 of the 2006 Championship. A glorious week of sunshine is followed by rain, rain and more rain for the whole weekend.
This year the Hornets are have been mix with the Formula 400 racers as it is suposed to be a better match of speed. Due to lack of finance I have hardly riden the bike all year and some of the other guys have done 3 rounds of the club championship already - so I wasn't expecting mega results from this round. Qualifying did not go well, although it was dry I was held up on every lap by 400's and never even felt like I opened the throttle - the result was a time 3 secs off last years time - but somehow I still got 2nd on the grid ( I guess the others had similar problems).
The first race did not even start until 3,30pm due to red flags and too many races! When we did get out it was damp and slimey but not wet, we all race full wets and they were needed!. We ran a split grid with the 400's starting 10 secs infront. We were passing them by the end of the 1st lap never giving us a straight race. I was running 3rd until the last lap when I was swamped and my lack of race experience this year told and I finished in a very dissapoiting 6th position. It did however give me the kik up tha ass I needed and well and truly fired me up for the next races.
A new addition to the field is Ivan Linten, an ex super-moto rider and he was amazing through the traffic, I felt I had the leggs on him but he was always one or two back markers infront and was riding very well. I finished 2nd behind him for the next 2 races, but were overtaking 25 400's to get there - obviously very dangerous. For the last race we started infront of the 400's and we had a straight battle, I crossed the line 1st in a great race.
