All the way back to Oulton for round 6.
I was still on a high from Pembrey and determined to get a bit of a gap over 2nd place Ivan - I knew he would be quick here and it was all to play for. The weather was good, over cast and an occasional spit of rain but nothing to worry about.
Qualifying turn out to be a bit of a joke - Hornets, 400's, cb's, 125's and Ducati's (63 bikes) turn up in the collection area and we are hurded out onto the track. Its not even a lap before the first man is taken out, his bike being a bowling ball through a mass of riders - amazingly only he goes down but a few are hit and bumped and It certainly got the adrenalin going. I spent the rest of the session dodging other riders and waiting for gaps, we only got 4 laps and when I came in I was convinced I would be way down the grid. To my amazement I was the quickest Hornet and 3rd overall. Not bad.
The weather was even better for the 1st race and I really wanted to make a break and go early. I got the whole shot from the line and really went for it, the leading 400's came past me into the hairpin which I knew was good because they were a good few seconds quicker and I could get a bit of a tow. It worked and by lap 4 I was a good few seconds in the lead when it was red flagged. So back to the grid and a restart with it all to do again. Again I led the pack and was well ahead on the second lap, however by lap 3 Ivan had really decided he wanted to play and was right behind me, I got my head down and really went for it, a couple of times I went in hot and the bike really got moving but I kept on it not knowing Ivan had taken a tumble behind me. I set a new lap record on the way to a comfortable win.
The second race was a similar race, it was spitting on the start line but I didn't think it was going to effect track grip so really went for it from the start. Chaz led into the first corner but he I was able to pass him going down the hill and pulled a gap. By lap 4 Jamie on pit wall was telling me to back it off so I cruised home for the second win, Ivans bike had developed a miss fire and had pulled in.
2 wins out of 2 and with Ivan not scoring any points a take 54 point lead in the championship. All together well worth the trip.
