For the long trip to Oulton we were hoping for better weather - unfortunatly it was not to happen. Infact it was tipping it down most of the weekend - at least there was no dispute about tyres!,
Qualifying went well for a change and I got lots of free track to play - it was hard to know how far to push as I seemed to be going ok and no-one was catching me, so I just got to grips with the circuit again and enjoyed the track time. I qualified 2nd.
The first race really could not have gone better - I took the lead into the first corner and stayed there all race - by lap 4 I was getting slow down signs from the pit wall as I had nearly a 10 second gap on 2nd place. I cruised the last few laps and won by 9,3 seconds - no slides no moments and all good!. It was Ivan who came in 2nd so I only pulled in 5 points on his championship lead.
I had a feeling the 2nd race would not be so easy and I was right, I took the lead into the first corner but this time Ivan wanted to play and he meant business, he pulled a small gap on me over the 1st few laps but I was able to close it quite quickly and tail him for the last 2 laps - he was riding well and I was finding it hard to find a way past - his late breaking is very hard to combat! Coming into the last bend I managed to pull next to him and tried to out brake him, I was level with his knee going into lodge but he shut the door and how we didnt go down still amazes me! I crossed the line in 2nd 0.27 of a second behind. The points gaps stayed the same from snetterton.
