Snetterton brought the sunshine out and it was a fantastic weekend. With 10 lap races and mixed grids with the CB500's it was always going to be intersting racing!
Qualifying was a muddle of bikes and trying real hard to get clear tarmac and flying laps. The bike seemed to be working well and I guessed I would be good for the first 2 rows - I was well chuffed with pole and knew there was more to come.
The first race saw me get the whole shot in to the first corner, I was in charge for the first few laps but then Jack caught and over took me - flying past me down the straight I could not match his pace, we fought through many back markers and he went on the win with me in second. The second race was very similar but this time Stu Martin joined the fun -he had borrowed someone elses bike and was back on form. We had a great 3 way battle with some excellent overtaking and battling seeing me take a very close 3rd - all 3 bike over the line in a blink!
Day 2 brought more sunshine and another qualifying session - again I somehow managed to pole it and was looking forward to some more racing like the day before - only hopefully this time getting the win. We were setting an amazing pace with Stu Martin setting 1min 17.36 in the first race and crossing the line in 2nd - again behind the flying Jack with me too close in 2nd again - it seemed we couldn't stop Jack - although today we were closer = I was determined to get him the last race as he was now 2nd in the championship pushing me down to third.
The last race saw the three of us breaking away again, Stu over cooked Richies a little and I made the move (again) and made it stick - hot on the heels of Jack - Stu had been holding me up in places in the other races but not enough for me to make the pass stick- but once I got some clear air I pulled away hot on the heals of Jack who had a few seconds lead. I was not going to give up and kept battling - I was closing the gap and would need all 10 laps to catch him - unfortunalty a slower rider forced me on the grass at Russels almost making me stop and I had all the work to do again - the next group of back marker fell well and I was on Jacks heals with 2 laps to go, I tried all I knew but Jack rode a good defence I couldn't make the pass - I finished level with his back wheel - 2nd again! Gutted but what a race! I set the fastest lap with 1min 17.4
