Nothing could be worse, racing for all important points (2nd, 3rd and 4th still available to me!), mixed grids, at Cadwell in October. I dont think anyone was looking forward to it. As it happens - the sun shone and the racing was excellent.

Qualifying was a damp afair with some people even opting for wets, we were out with the sound of thunder guys which meant racing against very expensive machines of all abilities. I was held up on every lap and came in thinking the worst. I qualified 11th overall on the 3rd row, 5th Hornet. Not good.

The first race was dry and did not count towards superclub points. I got a great start and headed into the first corner as second hornet with the top few sound of thunder ridres. Stu Martin was in front of me and we turned out to be the fastest 2 hornets by quite some stretch, Stu was dicing with the bigger bikes but was getting no where - passing on the corners and then getting blasted by a 100bhp difference down the straights, I followed letting him do all the hard work thinking I would leave it till the last few laps before getting involved. On the 4th lap Stu pulled in with a clutch problem leaving me with nothing to worry about - I checked over my shoulder and could not see the nearest bike so cruised home for the win by a very comfortable margin. And setting the fastest lap on the way.

The next race was the important one with points up for grabs, race 1 went far to well so I was expecting the worst - but on the warm up lap Stu fell off making my job a bit easier. I got a terrible start going into the first turn and getting shoved wide and way down the order, sitting about 5th in the hornets, I was bogged down for the first few laps but managed to get my head down and make some progress. I was up into 2nd with 2 laps to go and catching Matt fast, I gained on him and just as I was about to make a move he put a big bike in the middle for a few corners. Going into the new chicane Matt over shot and I put my bike up the inside but he pulled it in pushing me onto the grass woith no room to get through. On the last corner we were side by side with about 3 sound of thunder bikes around us, I was on the tight line and he was wide - I thought I could get him for the win but he just pipped me by a spindle to the line - Excellent race to finish the season and 2nd place in the championship in the bag. I set the fastest lap in the race.

I would like to thank all the sponsors who helped me and many more who are not on the list. Jamie and Emily (obvioulsy) especially Em for crashing the pit bike in such style! . Big thanks to all the riders - especially the new champ Matt Briggs who made the season so much fun. Hope to see you all next season!
